Sean (Xiang) Ma is currently senior applied science manager and head of research in Amazon Dash Cart team. His interests are in applied research and development of computer vision technologies for futuristic products. In Amazon, his team developed real-time computer vision and sensor fusion technologies that enable two generations of Amazon Dash Carts. Before that, he was Research Manager II at HERE Technologies, where he spend nearly 7 years working on computer vision research for autonomous driving (SAE Level 3-5). He was organizing chair of Amazon Computer Vision Conference (ACVC) in 2022, and Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR) conference tutorials for “Vision Meets Mapping” in 2019, 2020 and 2021. Dr. Ma received Ph.D and M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois Chicago.
